BURNOUT FACT VS FICTION

Burnout IS

• Feeling overextended and depleted
• Experiencing “bone-deep” exhaustion
• Being constantly critical
• Feeling isolated
• Losing your confidence

At the same time, you are afraid to allow your professional standards to decrease and let people know how broken you feel. Burnout is not an
imaginary symptom. It can happen to anyone more than once, but you can recover permanently.

Burnout IS NOT

• Just a bad day or being tired after a project
• An indication you are weak or a bad person
• Fixable by simply taking a vacation or signing up for a yoga class
• A badge of honour
• Inevitable even if you work in a profession known for its high rate of burnout

Burnout steals joy from your work and impacts your relationships.
